Summary
Manuscript, in several hands, of a collection of about 20 primarily sentimental poems, many written by C.A. Venn, on such subjects as nature, friendship, solitude, and happiness; as well as several poems dedicated to women. Poems by Venn include Lines inscribed on a stone that jutted out of a rock; On Mary Queen of Scots; and Jesse the Maniac, dated 1802. Other poems include Elegy on happiness, by Miss E. Carter; On a lady who had an impediment in her speech, by Edward Venn; and poems addressing "Celia", the moon, and an April sunbeam.
