Indexes/Finding aids
The original MS is among the Hargrave MSS, and was apparently in the hands of Robert Harley, 1st earl of Oxford (1661-1724), in 1711; he lent it to William Elstob (1673-1715) on the condition that no transcript of it should be made and his own transcript is among the Harlian MSS in the British Museum. The manuscript bears no mark of ownership except the shelf-number of Thomas Carew (1702-1766), but it undoubtedly precedes the first printing in 1713.
