Roger van de Wouwer (1933-), Belgian painter.
Summary
Collection consists of photographs, original artwork, correspondence, and printed ephemera by or relating to Roger van de Wouwer. Materials were assembled by Leo Dohmen for an exhibition, which was not held, and housed, with reference to Marcel Duchamp's Boîte-en-valise (Box in a Valise), in four folders and a valise. There are eleven loose photographs by Dohmen of artwork by Roger van de Wouwer and a photographic album. The album, entitled "Quelques images de Roger van de Wouwer, 1962," presented to Georges Hugnet, contains one portrait of Van de Wouwer, dating from 1960, eleven color photographs of artwork by Van de Wouwer, and one original drawing by Van de Wouwer. The correspondence consists of five letters to Georges Hugnet dating from 1963, three autograph letters signed from Dohmen, one autograph letter from Van de Wouwer, and one form letter, addressing protests against Van de Wouwer's work. Printed ephemera includes catalogs and announcements relating to exhibitions of Van de Wouwer's work between 1963 and 1968. Also contains ten black-and-white erotic photographs.
