"While returning thanks for the very liberal patronage bestowed by the citizens of Portsmouth and vicinity during his residence here, the subscriber begs leave to say that no one regrets more than he, the present necessary and inevitable increase in the price of newspapers--and he trusts that the speedy restoration of honorable peace to our land, may also soon allow us to resume the old low prices for the news."
