Campaign circular published by the Republican Party's national committee, in answer to the Democratic assertion, in 1864, that President Lincoln's administration was responsible for causing the war. "We have shown unmistakably who commenced the war. It must be apparent to all that the government has thus far a decided and preponderating advantage. The end cannot be doubtful."
Includes a wood-engraved map of the southern United States depicting those portions of the Confederacy that had been conquered by Union armies.
