Summary
During World War II, a woman waits in the English countryside for the return of her husband, a former Member of Parliament fighting at the front. When she receives news of his death, she resolves to carry on a new life--being elected to his old seat and even falling in love again. But at the end of the war, it's discovered that her husband was a prisoner of war and is about to return.
