Summary
Manuscript fair copy, in a single hand, of the verses to over 150 satirical political songs, chronologically arranged. Subjects include events of the War of the Spanish Succession; the 1709-10 French famine; the destruction of the convent of Port-Royal; the imposition of the dixième tax and the government's finances; the courtiers of Versailles; and the relationship between King Louis XIV and Madame de Maintenon. Each song also lists a traditional tune to which it may be sung.
