The Linen Series is a limited edition of ten. Individual leafs are approximately 6 1/2 x 13 inches; the portfolio measures 7 x 13 inches. All are signed, chiefly by Drew Matott and Margaret Mahan, and the set is signed and numbered on the colophon by them as well.
Linen Series is a collection of ten small broadside prints loosly bound in a trifold envelope. The individual leafs are unique prints on hand-made distressed linen and Egyptian cotton rag paper. The cover is made from military uniforms and a pulped road atlas from our travels. The series was printed using letterpress, mono-print, silkscreen and xerographic techniques
This collaborative portfolio was created during the travels of the Combat Paper Project in 2010. The original linen leafs were made in Chicago in 2008, the individual images were added over the course of the spring and summer of 2010 at The Print Council of New Jersey, Branchburg, NJ, the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, and the BluSeed Studio in Saranac Lake, NY. The portfolio binding was designed while in residence at St. Lawrence University and completed at the University of Illinois. The colophon and inside cover were printed at Soybean Press, Urbana, IL. Our thanks to collaborators Drew Matott, Drew Cameron, John LaFalce, Margaret Mahan, Jesse Albrecht, Kevin Matott, Jim Oneill, and Tom Lascell. This is the third publication of Combat Paper Press.--www.combatpaper.org
