"The 1915 version of El amor brujo is a stage work with sung and spoken parts, numerous dances and much more music than usual in a zarzuela of the "género chico" ... [the instrumentation is] flute (and piccolo), oboe, horn, cornet, piano, string quintet, with percussion in the final number--15 instruments in all"--Notes, p. 12.
Librettos by Gregorio & María Martínez Sierra (1st work), by the composer after an episode in Cervantes' Don Quixote (2nd work).
Eds. recorded: J.& W. Chester. The 1915 original version of the first work arr. by Antonio Gallego from sketches by the composer.
