Script: multiple hands writing in multiple scripts.
Binding: S. XV limp parchment binding with leather spine stiffener and visible sewing and flap. The parchment is from an erased music manuscript. Remnants of a paper title label on the spine (text lost).
In Latin, German and French.
Provenance
The various components of this manuscript were brought together in the fifteenth century probably in Central Europe. On the front pastedown, in s. XV Cursiva (doubtful reading): “Nos tangit lacota krugch draeg tollit omnia nostra / Invenit pogorill. qui non wlt esse peryatell”. Below, in a s. XVI German hand: “Synopsis philosophie Aristotelis”. Collection of Count Oswald Seilern (1900-1967, circular armorial bookplate). Christie's sale, London, 26 March 2003 (The Count Oswald Seilern Collection), lot 12. Purchased on the Edwin J. Beinecke Fund.
