"Rapport de forces" is an unreleased project now produced on this occasion in the form of a book, following events of 1 December 1982-5 December 2001 (Paris/Seoul). It is built around conversations with three FKTU trade unionists who traveled to France in search of the owner of Daewoo, who fled after the fraudulent bankruptcy of the Korean conglomerate. It centers on the heroic figure of Yeon Tae-Il, a young textile worker who immolated himself on November 13, 1970, to protest the extremely hard working conditions then in Korea. During the conversations, Hwang Yi Min, Yu Man Hyeong and Park Jun Kyu, mentioned the existence of a cemetery north of Seoul and other organized employees who have been pushed to the same end as Yeon Tae-Il. Every year, honor is paid to them. The last suicide I heard of took place on 10 september 2003, when Kyng-Hae Lee, a farmer and chairman of the Federation of Korean Advanced Farmers, protested on the sidelines of the WTO summit in Cancun, Mexico, by planting a knife in his heart--Bruno Serralongue (translated from the French).
