Biographical / Historical Note
Epaphroditus Champion Bacon was born in Litchfield, Connecticut on September 2, 1811. He attended Yale Law School in 1833, was admitted to the bar in 1835, and began his practice in Mobile, Alabama before returning to Litchfield in 1838. He was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 1840 and 1841. While on a health trip to Europe, he suffered a strangulated hernia and died in Seville, Spain on January 11, 1845.
