Scope and Contents
The collection contains writings, correspondence, and other papers by or relating to American artist and author Arnold Rosin. Writings, in French and English, consist of notes and drafts of novels and shorter works, including "Le bleu regard," "Dagger Smile," "King Kronsky," and "Triangle of Reason." Correspondence consists of incoming letters from family and professional acquaintances and exchanges, including carbons of outgoing letters, with publishers and Yale University. Individual correspondents include Paule-Léon Bisson-Millet, Robin Buss, and Gérard de Sorval. Also included are manuscript notes and photographs of artwork and people, including Rosin, René Laubiès, and others.

Arnold Rosin (1920-2017)
Arnold Rosin, an American painter, author, and translator, was born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1920. During World War II, Rosin served in the United States Ninth Air Force in Europe as an intelligence officer and interpreter and in 1949, he returned to France, entered the Atelier Fernand Léger in Montmartre, and settled permanently in Paris.
Processing Information
Collections are processed to a variety of levels, depending on the work necessary to make them usable, their perceived research value, the availability of staff, competing priorities, and whether or not further accruals are expected. The library attempts to provide a basic level of preservation and access for all collections, and does more extensive processing of higher priority collections as time and resources permit.
This collection received a basic level of processing, including rehousing and minimal organization. Various acquisitions associated with the collection have not been merged and organized as a whole. Each acquisition is described separately in the contents list below and titled according to month and year of acquisition.

Opening Hours
Access Information
The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours. You can request collection material online at least two business days in advance of your visit, using the request links in Archives at Yale.
