Biographical / Historical

Charles Leonard Overlander was born on December 7, 1873, in Leona, Massachusetts. He graduated from Ottawa University (Kansas) in 1896 and from Kansas State University School of Pharmacology in 1898. He then attended Sheffield Scientific School at Yale, graduating in 1901, where he was known for his "great seriousness." Overlander then received an M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1905, after which time he began practicing internal medicine and later, pathology. Overlander lectured at Harvard between 1907 and 1938 and also at Tufts Medical School between 1914-1925. He married Ruth L. Fitchett on June 30, 1920. They had no children. He died on December 16, 1948.
