Abstract: In the foreground, Sam House and the Duchess of Devonshire sit on stools facing each other, a large barrel between them. They raise foaming tankards inscribed, respectively, "Sam House" and "Devonshire." Sam holds a piece of paper signed, "sure votes;" the Duchess has a "Fox" favor pinned to her bodice. In the background, under the portico of St. Paul's, are the hustings filled with the election crowd
