Summary
"Alongside huge headliners like Booba, Angèle, and Sven Väth, the Dour 2022 festival also presented lesser-known artists, in particular on the stage of La Petite Maison dans la Prairie. Among them, TUKAN, a Belgian band straight from Brussels who so far has only released one self-titled EP. Claiming influences such as BadBadNotGood and Lone, the group skilfully mixes jazz, post-rock, and techno pulsation in a heady groove. Without computers or machines, TUKAN invites us on an organic journey that takes up the codes of electronic music: music which invites us to dance, with percussive drums with a well-marked kick, a powerful bass, melodies with a repetitive tendency, and a manufactured sound like that of the best producers of the genre. Yet there are only four musicians here, Andrea Pesare (guitar), Samuel Marie (keyboards), Nathan Van Brande (bass), and Tommaso Patrix (drums), to take us on a journey. Alternating compositions with house/techno accents and more soaring tracks, the young quartet from Brussels offers the full extent of its talent and its possibilities, while waiting to hear even more on an upcoming album!"
