Summary
"Stomp. Pop. Swing. Repeat. Stomp. Pop. Swing. Repeat. The essence of krumping finds its form in these 3 fundamental movements. Stomping down with your feet (stomp), feeding on and retaining the energy that channels towards the chest (pop), before letting it burst out through your arms (swing). In this loop of gestures, which contains both contraction and release, the dance technique becomes a conductor of raw, true and irrepressible emotions. The sheer passion that characterizes Krumping comes from its source. At the end of the 90s, the working class areas of Los Angeles were steeped in a climate of residual violence. Krumping was the response, driven by disillusioned, rebellious youth who strived to tame a flood of complex and overwhelming feelings. As part of his own Karavel festival, the dancer and choreographer Mourad Merzouki gives carte blanche to three great names in the discipline. Grichka, Nach & Jekyde take turns to evoke the expressive power of the dance to deliver poignant and captivating messages. Get ready to be moved. Léance Kalanzau".
