Summary
This large collection of miscellaneous reports and ephemera collected by Mass-Observation contains descriptions of individual films shown in British cinemas during the period 1936-1950 as well as observations and interviews on their public reception. Many of these films were Government information 'shorts', and Mass Observation's analyses were summarised and presented to the Ministry of Information. General analyses of the industry, specific accounts of cinema attendances, volunteer reports and related ephemera were also collected. Also included are questionnaires (1940-42) on shops and shopping habits as part of the reporting on the Ministry of Information film "Rush Hour"
