Layout: single column of 16 lines.
Script: Gothic textualis.
Decoration: several multi-line historiated initials, multi-line decorative initials. Two-line initials in gold on pink and blue grounds with simple white penwork; alternating blue and gold versal initials; elaborate line-fillers of many designs.
Binding: modern brown calf leather binding, silver clasp.
Medieval foliation in pen in the upper margin of each recto, alternating red and black. This foliation ends at fol. 228.
Modern illumination of David and Goliath illustrating “Beatus vir” (verso of final front flyleaf); likely a replacement for a lost full-page illustration.
Use of the book of hours not specified. Perhaps for Tournai or Cambrai (St. Foyllon, bishop of Cambrai, in suffrages).

Bookplate of William Harcourt Hooper. List of contents on back flyleaf in modern pencil. Formerly owned by Otto F. Ege (Ege 345.1999): his bookplate on first flyleaf and number 324 in pencil. Manuscript volume was on deposit with the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA); inventory number on front flyleaf: TR 12828/27. Purchased from John M. Freudenheim, Tom Freudenheim, Jo Freudenheim, Susan Core, Richard Core, and Michael Frisch, via JSJT Holdings, LLC, 2015-2018, with Edwin J. Beinecke Book Fund, Herman W. Summary
Illuminated manuscript on parchment containing a calendar--perhaps originally from a different manuscript, a collection of psalms (psalter), and a collection of prayers making up the book of hours. The psalter contains Psalms 1-150 and includes many historiated initials (ff. 1r-207v). The book of hours includes: canticles (ff. 207v-224v), Athanasian creed (ff. 224v-228r), a collection of prayers for specific occasions (ff. 234v-238v), Hours of the virgin (ff. 239r-287r), Seasonal prayers and suffrages (ff. 278r-283r), long hours of the Holy Spirit (ff. 287r-300r), and long hours of the Cross (ff. 300v-317v).
