Summary
Thanks Knox for the letters of recommendation he furnished for Gardoqui's son, who left this morning. Writes, Pray what would you advise me to do in respect to an invitation I had to dine with the President tomorrow? For I see by the papers that he has lost his mother & he will perhaps not be able to entertain company, or would preffer [sic] to be retir'd & yet his delicacy may prevent it. I wish you could inform me what would be most agreeable to the President that I may act accordingly. Don Diego Gardoqui signs as J. Gardoqui.
