Script: gothic textualis
Decoration: two quarter-page miniatures: of John on f. 23v and of Mary on f. 85v. Four quarter-page miniatures wanting (Hours of the Virgin (Matins), Penitential psalms, Hours of the Cross, Office of the dead). Single- and multi-line initials in red, blue, and gold ink. Several openings of the Hours decorated with floral decorations in the margins.
Binding: 19th-century red, gold-tooled goat leather. Traces of clasps. Edges gilt.

Provenance
Contemporary manuscript inscriptions (f. 130v) recording births, deaths, and marriages of Estienne Pradal(e) (1484; d. 1492), Jehanne Pradale (1487), Margarite Pradale (1491). Reference to Montferrand (the family may have ties to southern France). Front pastedown includes British booksellers’ catalogue description; Cleveland Museum of Art label, “TR12828/47”; and black Otto Ege monogram, pasted in upsidedown. Flyleaf ir: “377” circled, “#77” in upper right; multiple price-codes. Flyleaf iv: Mrs. Ege’s description, “MS of 15th Century 130 leaves / 10 borders / 2 miniatures / 1 Initial cut out.” Also “97” in pencil in lower left corner; annotation “l / ms / s” over the number “193” in pencil. Formerly owned by Otto F. Ege (Ege 550.1983). Manuscript volume was on deposit with the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA). Purchased from John M. Freudenheim, Tom Freudenheim, Jo Freudenheim, Susan Core, Richard Core, and Michael Frisch, via JSJT Holdings, LLC, 2015-2018, with Edwin J. Beinecke Book Fund, Herman W. Liebert Book Fund, and the John W. Corwith Memorial Fund.

Imperfect: several opening folios with quarter-page miniatures wanting.
