Lincoln Kirstein was an American writer and impresario.
Summary
Box 1 includes autograph manuscript verses for Kirstein's self-published book of poems, Rhymes of a Pfc (1964), with an autograph letter, signed, dated September 2, 1944, to his wife Fidelma Kirstein regarding the first poem. Also included are autograph and typescript letters, signed, all dating from 1964 and undated, from friends and colleagues including W. H. Auden, Paul Cadmus, Aaron Copland, E. M. Forster, James Laughlin, Harry Levin, Robert M. MacGregor, Marianne Moore, Jerome Robbins, Osbert Sitwell, Carl Van Vechten, and Andrew Wyeth regarding Kirstein's book and other personal and professional topics. Boxes 2-5 contain engravings, postcards, original artwork, printed music, and press clippings depicting cats and other subjects, dated circa 1831-1974.
