Summary
Collection of approximately 90 pieces of correspondence between John Ridland and Robert Bly, including autograph and typescript letters, signed, from Bly, and carbons of autograph and typescript letters from Ridland. The bulk of the exchange between Ridland and Bly dates from the 1960s. Letters discuss The Sixties, a literary magazine founded by Bly, poetry, the work of other writers, especially contemporary American poets and authors, personal matters, and other topics. Correspondence includes two autograph letters, signed, from Bly's wife Carol, and three letters between Ridland and City Lights Books. Accompanied by drafts of four short writings by Ridland and three photographs, possibly enclosed at one time with letters. Writings include three short works relating to Bly and Sylvia Plath and one poem, typescript and typescript carbon, corrected. There are two black-and-white photographs of Bly and his wife, Carol, and children, and one color photograph of Bly and Ridland.
