Summary
A codex of Islamic prayers and invocations, probably intended for personal use. 1. Selections from the Qura'n (folios 1-23b), starts with Sūrat Yāsīn (Chapter 36) and ends with Surat al-Mulk (Chapter 67). 2. Shīʻī doctrines (folios 25a-31a), in Persian. 3. Invocations (31a-92a), in Arabic. 4. Sharḥ duʻāʼ Marjānah "Commentary on the Invocation of Marjānah" (folios 92a-95a), a prayer in Ottoman Turkish. 5. Duʻāʼ al-ghāsilah "Invocation of the washer woman" (folios 95a-100a), an invocation in Arabic intended to implant love in the heart of a desired person, with some magic squares. 6. An invocation in Ottoman Turkish (folios 100a-105a). 7. Awwal duʻāʼ sharīf "First honorable invocation" (folios 105b-108a), in Arabic. 8. A prayer in Ottoman Turkish (folios 105b-108a). 9. Surkh bād (112a-116a), a prayer against "Surkh bād" (a Persian phrase which means "Red air", a kind of skin disease, probably measles), in Arabic. 10. An invocation in Ottoman Turkish (folios 116a-120a). 11. Duʻāʼ qadaḥ (folios 120b-124b), an invocation in Arabic. 12. Khawāṣṣ al-Qurʼān "Properties of the Qurʼān" (folios 125b-129a), in Ottoman Turkish. 13. Prayers, invocations and selection from the Qurʼan (folios 129a-140b). 14. Ḥirz al-tābiʻah "Talisman of the female jinn" (folios 141b-150b), in Arabic. The talisman is meant to protect the person who carries it from the wrath of this female jinn. It starts with a description of "al-tābiʻah", "al-laʻīnah al-malʻūnah" (the terrible and accursed) and ends with a crude sketch of her. Name of the copyist (and/or compiler) and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the 18th century.
