Translation of the colophon: "The copy was reproduced from the autograph of its distinguished, prominent and illustrious author, al-Ṣāḥibī al-Naqshabandī, al-Shaykh Muḥammad Asʻad, who continues to be a sea of knowledge for the seekers and a means for connecting the student and the devotee, by the most despised of creatures, he who is full of sins and vices, al-Sayyid Muḥammad ʻAlī al-Kīlānī, al-shahīr bi-al-Ẓibyānī, servant of the noble poor [the sufis], may God forgive him, his parents and Muslims, on 16 Muḥarram, 1305 of the Hijrah of the Prophet [4 October, 1887], on whom God has bestowed the most perfect distinction."

Summary
Nūr al-hidāyah wa-al-ʻirfān fī sirr al-rābiṭah wa-al-tawajjuh wa-Khatm al-Khawājakān, "Light of guidance and cognition on the secret of the association, patronage and Khatm al-Kawājakān ritual", a treatise on Naqshabandīyah Ṣufī order, by Muḥammad Asʻad ibn Maḥmūd al-Khālidī al-ʻUthmānī (1271-1347 / 1854-1928), a prominent Naqshabandī Ṣūfi and author, from Damascus (Syria), of Kurdish origin, who was in charge of "Khatm al-Khawājakān" ritual, at Takīyat al-Sulṭān Sulaymān (a dervish convent, outside Damascus). "Khatm al-Khawājakān" is a Naqshabandīyah "dhikr" (Ṣūfī ritual), founded by ʻAbd al-Khāliq ibn ʻAbd al-Jamīl al-Ghajdawānī (from the village of Ghajdawān near Bukhārá, Uzbekistan, who was known by the title "Khawājakān", Shaykh of the Shaykhs, in Persian). The treatise was written in defense of the Naqshabandīyah order, its doctrines and its rituals. Copied from the autograph of the author, by al-Sayyid Muḥammad ʻAlī al-Kīlanī al-shahīr bi-al-Ẓibyānī (could not be identified), on 16 Muḥarram, 1305 (4 October, 1887). Place of copying not mentioned.
