Translation of the colophon: "The eighth part of Sharḥ Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī is completed by the praise of God, His help and His abundant benevolence. It will be followed, God willing, by the ninth part, and the saying of God, may He be glorified and praised: 'Say, Who has prohibited the adornment God has brought forth for His servants, and the wholesome things of sustenance?' ... The verse [Sūrat al-Aʻrāf, verse 32]. God suffices us, He is the best advocate."

Summary
A commentary on al-Jāmiʻ al-ṣaḥīḥ, also called Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, the most authoritative collection of Ḥadīths, according to the Sunnī tradition, by Muḥammad ibn Ismāʻīl al-al-Bukhārī (810-870), a celebrated Ḥadīth scholar and historian, born in Bukhārá (Bukhoro, Uzbekistan) and traveled extensively, collecting more than six-hundred-thousand Ḥadīths, of which he selected the most reliable. The present manuscript is "al-Juzʼ al-thāmin" (part eight) of the commentary of Ibn Baṭṭal (ʻAlī ibn Khalaf, died 1057), an Andalusian Ḥadīth scholar, from the city of Qurṭubah (Córdoba, Spain). Name of copyist and place and date of copying not mentioned, probably from the eighteenth century.
