Biographical / Historical Note
The town of Goldfield, Colorado, was founded in 1895 along the line of the Midland Terminal Railway to provide homes for miners working at the Portland, Vindicator, Golden Cycle, and Lillie Mines. By the 1920s, the city was largely abandoned.
Summary
4 manuscript minute books in multiple hands, 1899 June 29-1931 May 11. Ledgers document official matters including minutes of all city business, governance, and council meetings. Some typescript minutes pasted down. Accompanied by a sample ballot; a poll book for the city election, 1917 April 3; and 2 receipts for the purchase of the fourth ledger.
