Biographical / Historical Note
Bridegroom: Yeʼudah ben Ḥayim Al-Gahasi.
Bride: Śarah bat Yaʻish G'iyat.
Summary
Marriage contract, printed form completed in manuscript, red, purple and gold ink on paper, dated 14th of Nisan 5689 at Yerushala[y]im (1929). The text is surrounded by two columns in which are printed sayings praising a wife. On the outside of the column are further quotations praising a Jewish wife. Above the text is an arch, which is composed of the traditional blessing for the bride and groom taken from the Book of Ruth. There is a stamp showing the city of Jerusalem in the center above the text and on either side is a biblical quote relating to the importance of the city of Jerusalem. Throughout the document are printed images, either in oval or square shapes, of holy places in the land of Israel. The entire document is enclosed in a decorative border in red and purple ink.
