The Georges Lauweryns Manuscript and Printed Music consists of manuscript and printed music composed by Lauweryns, and printed music by others owned by Lauweryns. Most music by Lauweryns consists of songs for voice and piano or works for voice and orchestra. Also present are piano, chamber, orchestral, and ballet music. Manuscript music by Lauweryns is in several hands, including copyists and possibly the composer's autograph. Some manuscripts include performance annotations or printer's markings. Many bear stamps of the Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique, or are accompanied by registration forms for the Société. Music by other composers consists of songs for voice and piano by Jules Massenet, and solo piano music, orchestral works, and operas in vocal score by several early 20th-century composers, many inscribed by the composer to Lauweryns.

Georges Lauweryns
Georges Lauweryns, conductor, pianist, and composer. Lauweryns conducted at the Théâtre royal de la Monnaie, Brussels, and for operas and concerts in Paris and Monte Carlo. His brother Fernand Lauweryns was a music publisher in Brussels.
Processing Information
This collection was formerly classed as Uncat Mss 328 and Uncat Mss 477. In 2005, the collection received a preliminary level of processing, including rehousing and minimal organization. A preliminary finding aid was compiled from lists created at the time of receipt by the Library. Folder titles were based on information provided by the creator or previous custodian. Titles were not verified against contents of folders. This preliminary list was migrated to comply with current archival descriptive standards in 2007-2008. As part of the migration, modifications were made to the formatting of of thel list; however, the content was neither modified nor verified.
In 2012, the collection received a baseline level of processing, including rehousing and reorganization. The collection was reclassed, folder titles were revised, folder contents were verified, and containers were renumbered.

Access Information
The Beinecke Library is open to all Yale University students and faculty, and visiting researchers whose work requires use of its special collections. You will need to bring appropriate photo ID the first time you register. Beinecke is a non-circulating, closed stack library. Paging is done by library staff during business hours.
