German typescript of Holmes' notes glued to the flyleaf -- Holmes mentions that the MS contains a Psalter, Song of Songs, and a praise of Mary, and hypothesizes regarding the purpose of the outer calf-skin capsule. Sparse marginalia and scribal corrections. Some holes and tears in MS are stitched back together. Minor worming on the back cover.

|a F. 1r. Face plate pasted over the text: Yale University Library. Gideon Scull and Elizabeth Holmes Memorial. Gift of Edmund Wales Holmes, AB, MD. Class of 1872. 1920 [date of donation?]; F. 2 contains a report in German of the contents and date of the book, in which the writer makes a case for the 17th century. However, the Psalter is clearly written by a hand of the late-nineteenth or early-twentieth century; Blank: Ff. 2v–4v, 145r–148v; Word for God is rubricated throughout.

|a F. 5r–145v: Psalter, ዳዊት: Ff. 5r–111r: 151 Psalms of David. Opening Prayer is from the Psalter of the Virgin. The midpoint of the Psalms (f. 59r) is unmarked. The spiritual meanings of the Hebrew letters in Psalm 118 are according the modern system. Psalm 151 is the short version; Ff. 111v–122r: Biblical Canticles. The fourth canticle is described as the prayer of Hana, mother of Samuel, prophet; Ff. 122v–128v: Song of Songs, common version; Ff. 129r–140r: Praises of Mary, beginning with Monday; Ff. 140r–145v: Gate of Light.
