Vom antiken Wandbild über das barocke Stillleben bis zur Fotografie der Gegenwart: Blumen gehören zu den beliebtesten Motiven der Kunstgeschichte. Seit 25 Jahren beschäftigt sich die Zürcher Fotografin Anna Halm Schudel mit dem traditionsreichen Sujet. Mit der Kamera zoomt sie in Blumenkelche hinein und an Blütenstempel oder Blattadern heran. Sie zelebriert die leuchtende Farbenpracht und Formenvielfalt und damit die Verführungskunst der Blumen. Ebenso leidenschaftlich verfolgt die Fotografin den Prozess des Ausbleichens, Verdorrens und Welkens und nimmt trockene, faulende oder unter Wasser driftende Sträusse auf. 'Blossom' vereint dekorative Pracht mit einem Memento mori. Diese Symbolik und die Bezüge zur Geschichte des Blumenstilllebens thematisieren die Kunst- und Fotohistorikerin Franziska Kunze und die Fotopublizistin Nadine Olonetzky in ihren Essays.
