Summary
The first of one week's "If" strips, published in The Guardian on 16 July 2018. Borrowing from David Low's famous cartoon of the Hitler and Stalin meeting over the body of Poland (first published in the Evening Standard on 20 September 1939). Here an orange-faced Trump in tartan-patterned golf shorts meets with Putin doffing a MAGA cap, meet on a golf course over the moribund figure of Theresa May. Trump whose mother was Scottish and who owns golfing properties in Scotland, absurdly echoes John F. Kennedy: "Ich bin ein Scotlander." Putin, his right had to his bare-chest, responds: "The Scyourgye of NATO I pryesyume?"
