Welsford later married Susan Adams Welsford and was a banker and insurance broker in London. Welsford served as secretary of the Patriotic Fund, founded in 1803 to provide financial assistance to British soldiers, and the Waterloo Subscription, founded in 1815 to assist veterans of the Battle of Waterloo. 520 Two autograph manuscript diaries written by John Parr Welsford while serving as a purser on the East Indiaman Francis, 1787-1788, addressed to Susan Adams, who later married Welsford. Diary entries dated 1787 January-May describe passage from London to Saint Helena, with references to officers and passengers, including Robert Brooke (1744-1811), governor of Saint Helena, 1788-1800, and his family; an encounter with the East Indiaman Duke of Montrose; and a celebration on crossing the Equator.
