Biographical / Historical Note
T. Hale (active approximately 1688-1701) was an English translator of French works.
Pierre Jurieu (1637-1713) was a French Protestant leader and author.
Summary
Autograph manuscript translations by T. Hale of Pierre Jurieu's Accomplissement des propheties (1686) and Présages de la decadence des empires (1688). Each translation includes a preface and table of contents. The first work concerns prophecies in the book of Revelation, and his interpretation of the prophecies' relationship to the destruction of the Pope and the Catholic Church. Hale left this translation unfinished, and concluded with a note, dated 1688, stating that he found another translation of the work had been published. The second work concerns European civilization and the downfall of empires.
