"This version of Peter the Goatherd first appeared in A treasury of pleasure books for young children (London, 1850), edited by Joseph Cundall. The battle of Blenheim is by Robert Southey. Wrapper imprint statement varies: New York: John McLoughlin, (successor to Elton & Co.,) publisher. "Stereotyped by Vincent Dill 21 & 23 Ann S[t.]"--at foot of p. [1] of wrapper. Elton & Co. published in New York between 1851 and 1854. "John McLoughlin, no. 3 Tryon Row, New York"--p. [4] of wrapper. John McLoughlin was located at 3 Tryon Row between 1852 and 1853. Vincent Dill operated at 21 & 23 Ann St., New York, between 1848 and 1852. "Pleasure books for children. A new series of toy books, 12 kinds, price 6 1/4 cents each,--plain."--p. [4] of wrapper."
