This volume covers three groups of camps: the early camps established in the first year of Hitler's rule, the major concentration camps with their constellations of sub-camps that operated under the control of the SS-Business Administration Main Office, and youth camps. Overview essays precede entries on individual camps and sub-camps. Each entry provides basic information about the purpose of the site; the prisoners, guards, working and living conditions; and key events in its history. Material drawn from personal testimonies helps convey the character of each site, while source citations for each entry provide a path to additional information. 586 Association of Jewish Libraries Judaica Reference Award, 2010. 588 Description based on print version record. 590 Access is available to the Yale community. 650 7 Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) |vEncyclopedias. |2nli 650 7 Jewish ghettos |vEncyclopedias. |2nli 650 7 Nazi concentration camps |zEurope |vEncyclopedias. |2nli 650 7 Jews. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00983135 650 7 Jewish ghettos. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00982786 650 7 Internment camps. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst02028874 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xJews |zEurope |vEncyclopedias. 650 0 World War, 1939-1945 |xConcentration camps |zEurope |vEncyclopedias. 650 0 Jewish ghettos |zEurope, Eastern |vEncyclopedias. 650 0 Nazi concentration camps |zEurope |vEncyclopedias. 651 7 Eastern Europe. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01245079 651 7 Europe. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01245064 655 7 Encyclopedias. |2lcgft 655 7 Encyclopedias. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01423798 655 7 encyclopedias. |2aat 655 2 Encyclopedia 700 1 Megargee, Geoffrey P., |d1959- |eeditor. 710 2 United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. 710 2 Project Muse. |edistributor 730 0 Project Muse books annual backfile collection 2023. 830 0 Book collections on Project MUSE. 852 80 |byulintx |hNone |zOnline resource 852 80 |zOnline resource 856 40 |yOnline book |uhttps://yale.idm.oclc.org/login?URL=https://muse.jhu.edu/book/111925/ 902 Yale Internet Resource |bYale Internet Resource >> None|DELIM|16831993 905 online resource 907 2024-01-17T14:13:04.000Z 946 DO NOT EDIT.
