|a Manuscript, in a single unknown hand, of a copy of seven short works by Horace Walpole. In addition to the narrative of the quarrel between Hume and Rousseau, the manuscript also contains Reminiscences, written in 1788, a narrative of the court of George I; Hieroglyphic tales, a collection of fairy tales; Miscellaneous pieces in prose: a parody of Lord Chesterfield's letters to his son; General criticism on Dr. Johnson's writings; Strange occurrences: being a continuation of Baker's chronicle, a lighthearted and satirical collection of political anecdotes from the 18th century; and Detached thoughts, a collection of epigrammatic statements. The selections, along with their footnotes and titles, correspond to the fourth volume of the 1798 edition of Walpole's works, edited by Mary Berry, and the manuscript was possibly used as a printer's copy for that edition.
