Biographical / Historical Note
Gustav Mahler, Austrian composer and conductor. Das klagende Lied, a cantata for solo voices, chorus, and orchestra, was composed in 1880 in three parts: Waldmärchen, Der Spielmann, and Hochzeitsstück. A revised version, without Waldmärchen, was published in 1899.
