Biographical / Historical

David Hale Clement was born July 22, 1909, in Buffalo, New York. He was a member of the Yale College Class of 1931 and the Harvard Medical School Class of 1935. During World War II, he served in the Army Medical Corps. After the liberation of the concentration camps, he was sent to Dachau to treat a typhus epidemic that had broken out among the prisoners. After the war, Clement returned to New Haven and served as a pediatrician and as a clinical professor of pediatrics at Yale from 1946 until 1989. Clement died in March 1991.
