State of Connecticut. To the sheriff of the county of [blank] Greeting Whereas [blank] who was constable of the town of [blank] in the county of [blank] and collector of the state tax for said town of [blank] in the year 17[blank] has neglected to make payment of [blank] in said year as the law requires, amounting to the sum of [blank] lawful money. As per account of the state treasurer, whereof execution remains to be done. These are therefore by authority of the state of Connecticut, to command you that of the money of the said [blank] or of his goods or chattels within your precincts, you cause to be levied, and the same being disposed of as the law directs, paid and satisfied unto the treasurer of this state for the time being, the aforesaid sum [blank] ... Hereof fail not and make due return of this writ, with your doings thereon according to law, within sixty days next coming. To the sheriff of the county of [blank] or his deputy, or either of the constables of the town of [blank] within said county, Greeting In the name of the governor and company of the state of Connecticut, you are hereby commanded to [blank] to appear before the [blank] County Court to be holden at [blank] within and for the county of [blank] on the [blank] Tuesday of [blank] then and there to answer unto [blank] in a plea, that to the plaintiff the defendant render the sum of [blank] which to the plaintiff, the [blank] justly owes by book, [blank] as by the [blank] book ready in court to be produced fully appears; which debt the defendant hath never paid [blank] (though often requested and demanded) [blank] which is to the damage of the plaintiff the sum of [blank] lawful money.
