Summary
In 2021, the Museo Nacional de Arte substantially increased its artistic collection with the donation made by Carlos Pellicer López, divided into two parts: the first, of 651 works of art by Mexican and foreign artists, from the inheritance he received from his uncle, the poet Carlos Pellicer Cámara (Tabasco, Mexico 1897-1977) and the second comprising 1426 works by the artist Mario Alonso Ostolanza (Durango, Mexico 1912-1989). The exhibition not only recovers artworks taht resulted from the friendship that the poet, author and politician Carlos Pellicer had with the various artists and photographers of his time, including, Diego Rivera, Roberto Montenegro, Frida Kahlo, Rafael Doniz, Saturnino Herrán, Gerardo Murillo Dr. Atl, Joaquín Clausell, Adolfo Best Maugard, José Clemente Orozco and others, but explores his poetic view of the world. This text that correlates art and poetry, goes beyond painting, it is accompanied with reproduction of photographs, sculptures and fragments of Pellicer's poems.
