Summary
Chronicles the life of Kenyan Beryl Markham who, at 17, chose to stay in Africa when her father moved to Peru. Through an apprenticeship, Markham spent her twenties as a successful racehorse trainer. However, she traded in racehorses for pilot wings. Markham became not only the first woman in East Africa to obtain a commercial pilot's license, but also became the first person the fly east to west across the Atlantic ocean.
