BEIN 2013 23: No. 43 of 61 titles relating to the Council of Trent bound together in blind-stamped pigskin; decoration includes stamped shield with monogram GP, which (per dealer) suggests binding either by Georg Popp in Nuremberg or by Georg Praun in Augsburg. Ink-stamped title on front cover: Orationes Tridentinae. Unidentified ownership(?) inscription dated 1564 on front pastedown (with motto: Gott is mein Schutz), followed by bibliographic notes in a later hand. Inscription on title page: "Sum mei Elias Reinhardi Ao. 86. Mens. Maio donum D. Johannis Puecheri ...." Inscription on rear pastedown: Virtute parta durant, Johan. Leisentritij.

Summary
The letter, dated at Chartres Jan. 18, 1563, reports a recent victory of Catholic forces over the Huguenots at Dreux, on Dec. 19, 1562, and calls for measures to eradicate heresy. The speech which follows insists on the need for church reform.
