Summary
Collection of thirty-three manuscript and four printed documents relating to the history of the Papacy and of the Papal States in the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Copies of letters, memoranda, instructions and legal documents pertain to the appointment of cardinals; the proper observance of the Roman Rites; points of canon law; and current political controversies involving the Pope and the Papal States. Also included is a lengthy "Aviso" directed to the King of Spain, discussing the conclave which elected Urban VIII and the favor shown to members of his family, the Barberini.
