This Relation and that of 1660 (no. 28) are the rarest of all. Only two original copies are known, that in the Lenox library, of which this copy is a reprint, and one in the Bibliothèque St. Geneviève. Both of the letters are signed by "François Le Mercier"--Autograph presentation copy from James Lenox to Henry C. Murphy Esq. Paris, 1660 ..."--Originally bound together with the above copy of "Lallemant" and "Relation [ ... en la] Novvelle France, [és années 1676 & 1677] ... [Albany, 1854]." With the bookplate of Frank Cutter Deering. With presentation inscription to Henry Cruse Murphy from James Lenox, 1854.
