Volume of pen and ink and watercolor drawings of mosses, compiled by Louisa Seymour, circa 1844 (when Seymour was 16 years old). The volume includes 54 leaves with colored drawings and 4 further leaves with sketches in graphite. Each species of moss is depicted with multiple small drawings, showing the component parts of each plant. Seymour records the Latin name for each species, and notes the number assigned the species in English botany, by James Edward Smith and James Sowerby (published 1790-1814).
The inner front board has a pocket in which are inserted five pages of pen and ink drawings of moss and lichens, with a list of 13 species. There is also an envelope addressed: "Pflanzen für Miss Louise Seymour, 39 Upper Grosvenor, London."
