Biographical / Historical Note
Daniel B. Dyer served as a colonel in the United States Army from 1862 to 1864 and worked as an Indian agent in Kansas beginning in 1869. He traveled from Kansas City, Missouri to other areas of Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma in 1910.
Summary
Typescript copy of a series of letters by Daniel B. Dyer written during a trip from Kansas City, Missouri to other areas of Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma in 1910. Dyer describes the landscape, farmland, buildings, and Native Americans encountered during his trip. He also compares the trip to a similar excursion he took in approximately 1870. Accompanied by a typescript biographical sketch of Dyer by an unidentified author describing Dyer's life, particularly his work as an Indian agent in Kansas.
