Publisher not identified; the set of plates was published on several occasions in the Netherlands, first by Goltzius in Haarlem, then by Claes Jansz Visscher (before 1652) in Amsterdam, and finally by Jochem Ottens. See British Museum online catalogue.
One of a series of seven numbered plates showing whole length personifications of "The Virtues" placed in niches, after Hendrik Goltzius.
Two lines of text engraved below image: Spes humiles luiquit ... atria sertur. F.E. [Franco Estius].
Plate numbered "2" in lower left corner of image.
Imperfect; sheet trimmed within plate mark with some loss of design. Description based on impression in the British Museum, registration no.: 1857,0613.504.
