Summary
The present work is born as a result of several articles written by the author in different occasions and circumstances. Although Luis María Duarte's premature death prevented him from successfully completing this work, the chapters were mostly culminated. He takes us to Paraguay of the early twentieth century, which was presided over by Liberato Rojas, with his men, who with their successes and follies forged modern Paraguay. In these pages, he gathers the vicissitudes of a head of state who, in a country plunged in an environment of permanent conspiracy and uprisings, must overcome all kinds of obstacles, including the diplomatic break with the regional power of the moment, Argentina, to stay in power.
