Summary
Scripts and production materials relating to the Western film Duel in the Sun (Vanguard Films, 1946), directed by King Vidor and written and produced by David O. Selznick. The film was adapted from the novel Duel in the Sun (New York: Hampton, 1944) by Niven Busch. The collection documents the process of adapting the novel to screen, including a typescript draft adaptation of the novel and descriptions of characters and costumes compiled from the novel. Includes 4 drafts of the script written by Oliver H. P. Garrett and David O. Selznick, revised copies of the script used to ensure dialogue continuity during editing, the musical score for the film, and music permissions forms. Also includes Dutch and Spanish translations of the script.
